Do you Need Contact Hours for a CE Activity?

Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) Application Process

This is the application process for you to offer CE courses and award contact hours to the participants in your educational activity. All applications require 15 to 30 days for review and processing. A $100 late fee is incurred if application is received less than 15 days before the program.

Step 1: Contact the CE Provider if you wish to apply for contact hours. The CE Provider will send you an application packet to fill out and submit.

  • CE Application form
  • Signed License agreement form
  • Pre- and/or Post-test for evaluation of learning outcomes (Microsoft Word document)
Step 3: Review and Evaluation process.
  • Your activity plan will be reviewed and evaluated by the CE Provider.
  • Once approved, a consultation invoice/bill will be emailed to you for your review. Payment is needed to continue the processing of the contact hours.
  • Upon receipt of payment, your activity will be registered in CE Broker.
Step 4: Confirmation of approval
  • Once the course has been registered in CE Broker, the CE Provider will email you the following files: (1) .pdf file of the CE Application; (2) Roster/registration form; (3) CE Evaluation form; (4) and Certificate of Completion.
Step 5: Completion of course
  • Upon the completion of the CE activity, the planner or author must submit the following to the CE Provider: (1) Course roster/registration form filled and signed; (2) CE Evaluation forms
  • The planner/author must complete a summary of positive learning outcomes (i.e., comparative percentile score between pre- and post-tests [average of at least 80%]; or satisfactory post-test results [average of at least 80%]), which can be done online. See "Summary of Positive Learning Outcomes" section at the bottom of this page.
  • These documents must be submitted to the CE Provider within 2 weeks after the completion of the course. Failure to send any of the aforementioned files will result in an invalidation and inactivation of the course.
  • Participants who wish to have their contact hours reported to CE Broker must indicate: (1) State board of nursing where they are licensed; and (2) their state license number where they want the contact hours to be credited to.
